Carl was born January 3, 1950 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.  He passed away March 22, 1974.  He was 24 years old.

Carl Michael Burnet, age 24, of 10108 Kempwood St., Houston, TX, died Friday morning, March 22, 1974, after a sudden illness.
Born in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.  He was the  son of James Elijah Burnett, Sr. (1922–1997) and Edith Mabry Burnett (1924–2010) of Atlanta, Georgia.
He was a member of the Houston Fire Department.
Survivors include his daughter, Robin Lynn Burnett; sister, Debra Elizabeth Burnett; brothers, James Elijah "Jim" Burnett, Jr. (1947–2013), Richard M. Burnett, and Ronald A. Burnett; maternal grandfather, Carl C. Mabry; paternal grandmother, Mrs. A.F. Burnett.
Services were held at 3:00 pm, Monday, at Ben Avon Baptist Church, Spartanburg, by Rev. Fred V. Brown; burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
